5-a-side football is not governed by the English FA but is played informally throughout the UK. For this reason there are no set sizes for 5-a-side goals. The rules and the goal sizes are normally set by the organisers of the 5-a-side league.
In our experience the most common size of goal used is a goal 12ft wide by 4ft high, although we have also come across leagues using 16ft x 4ft goals.
The football goals used for five-a-side are quite low as the ball is not allowed to travel above head height, pitches are smaller and players get quite close to the goals.
We have a choice of steel freestanding goals or Samba goal.
The steel goals have folding sides and can be folded flat against a wall when not in use. These goals must be securely fixed against a wall to comply with safety standards. The steel football goals are made from 50mm OD thick steel with welded corner joints for added strength and powder coated white.
The Samba 5-a-side football goals provide a cheaper alternative. They can be put up quickly and are lightweight and easy to move around. We have the standard 12 x 4ft size plus a smaller 8 x 4ft goal that we think would be good for children’s indoor football.
The official size goal for the 5-a-side game played by the under 7s and under 8s age group as laid down by The FA is 12 x 6ft.
