The new and revised FA Approved Respect Barrier is now in stock at The Soccer Store.
Responding to customer feedback the manufacturers have change the specification of this barrier system. The tape system that tended to catch the wind has been replaced by a high viz rope. This gives the respect barrier more stability in adverse weather conditions. The safety poles now carry the FA Respect message.
The barrier is designed to keep parents away from the touchline in line with the FAs Respect Campaign.
All sizes are in stock ready for a next working day despatch.

A set of football goals supplied by The Soccer Store were featured on this week’s Gadget Show.
The training goal posts were used on the tests to see if a ball could go supersonic.
The record speed for a human kick is 80.1mph and the goals easily withstood this at close range.
The Gadget Show team used an air cannon to propel the ball to 119.03mph and again the training football goals easily withstood this.
All of this shows that The Soccer Stores Training Goal really are a tough set of goals. They are priced from just £65 per goal for the 8 x 6 goals and are also available in the 12 x 6 size. The goals come complete with nets, clips and even a carry bag for storage or to load the goals up and take them down the park. As with all of the goal posts sold by The Soccer Store the goal comes with a full years guarantee.
The training goals are recommended for garden or training use and can be used by children and adults.

With spring just around the corner it is time to get out the garden goal posts if you store them away over the winter. Of course not everyone does put them away for the winter months, there is nothing wrong with this as it is perfectly ok to leave them out all year round.
Either way there are a few maintenance tips you will need to carry out to get the best out of your goal posts.
These are as follows:
1. Give the goals a wipe down with a damp cloth to remove any build of dirt etc.
2. Check the nets. Although the nets are rot proof, this will not stop animals having a chew at them. If this is the case you can order spare football nets from The Soccer Store.
3. Assemble the goal, fasten on the net and securely anchor it down. It is advised that on the larger football goals that you ‘toe in’ the posts to reduce the risk of dip in the crossbar.
These 3 steps complete the annual maintenance for the goals. Get the ball out and have fun!

The S1 shin pads have proved to be very popular since they were introduced at The Soccer Store at the end of last year. We have now started to stock the extra small shin pads to cater for the younger players.
A sizing chart is shown on our website, but in general terms S1 Sport recommends the following.
Small ankle guard matched up with extra small shin pads.
Medium ankle guard matched up with small or medium shin pads.
Large ankle guard matched up with medium or large shin pads.
Because some players are wearing the ankle guards over their sock it is always best to measure the ankle before purchasing.

Plastic goals - you get what you pay for.
The phrase you get what you pay for has never been more relevant when buying plastic goals. There are now so many different outlets selling plastic goals in the high street and online and the prices range considerably. Take one of our most popular goals the 12 x 6. The prices range from around £65 to £99, how can this be surely there cannot be that much difference. Well yes there can. The £99 Samba Goals are constructed from high impact uPVC and made in the UK to FA standards. These goals have a greater wall thickness in the tubing sections than the cheaper imported gaols and will last for many years. They can be left out all year round with no fear of yellowing and come with a no quibble 1 year guarantee.
Buying one of the cheaper goals on the market can be a false economy. You buy the goal at say £60/£65, it lasts for around six months and then you go out and buy the Samba goal you should have bought in the first place.
We would always recommend buying the Samba Goals from us at The Soccer Store. They are fully guaranteed and are used by a host of professional football clubs throughout the UK.

So, we have all put on a few pounds over the festive period, too many turkey dinners, too much Christmas pudding and a bit too much festive spirit!
Now is the time to get back to the fitness regime. Better a little each day than just the one training session a week with the team.
Just 30 - 40 minutes a day can make a big difference.
Do a 5 minute warm up ending with some stretching exercises and then into a 30 min jog. Time yourself doing a certain route and see how much you can get your time down over the next few weeks. Try varying the jog by putting in some 10 to 20 second sprints. Finally end the session with a warm down.
Try varying your exercises over the coming weeks, doing shuttle sprints with some cones speed and agility work with a speed ladder and moving in and out of slalom poles accelerating and decelerating.
Finally don’t for get to do some ball work to improve your control and touch. 10 minutes on your own is far better than 60 minutes with 12 other players.
The football training equipment needed for the fitness routines is available from The Soccer Store.
